SUMMER CAMPS

Northern Ohio offers some wonderful Summer Camps for all ages. Below you will find additional information.

SUMMER CAMPS
Akron Zoo

The Akron Zoo will be offering 32 different ZooCamps for kids ages 2-16 in 2012. ZooCamps start in early June and run through August and are either one-day, three-day or five-day sessions. New this year are some camps about the reef and aquatic animals to celebrate the zoo’s new exhibit, Journey to the Reef, which opens May 26, 2012.

Registration is required and space is limited. Children will learn about the zoo's animals and their environments, conservation programs and what it is like to work at the zoo.

Cleveland Botanical Garden proudly hosts BotaniCool® Kids Camp - a fun day camp for children ages 5 - 8.

This summer the Garden celebrates the opening of its new Kitchen Garden, and so campers will dive into the world of local food with activities including:

  • Taste testing locally grown food
  • Planting edible garden boxes
  • Learn and sample simple and nutritious recipes

Campers will also explore the natural world in our Glasshouse and 10 acres of outdoor gardens, including our Hershey Children's Garden. Each day is full of hands-on experiments and activities, arts and crafts, nature games and garden walks.

All activities are led by the Garden's knowledgable, well-trained and slightly silly educators. Campers will learn new skills, develop environmental awareness and appreciation and grow new friendships.

Lake Erie Islands Chapter of The Black Swamp Conservancy
The LEIC-BSC Nature Camp Program is a series of day camps focusing on the unique island environment and is designed for children ages 4 to 16. Classes are limited to 20 students and are led by teachers and specialists in the field of science. Each session is designed for the student’s specific age group and programs vary each year.
