Bicycling is becoming one the fastest-growing activities in the country and Northern Ohio has been keeping up the pace by boasting numerous bicycle trails for the weekend enthusiast, to enjoy a family ride and/or for the adventurous road warrior. Looking to challenge yourself? Why not check out some of our state park's dedicated mountain bike trails.

Join the thousands of riders who take to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park every year . The park offers a ride array of topography for the beginner to the more advanced. The scenery and wildlife makes every ride extra special.

 

 
     
   
 
LOCAL TRAILS AND VELODROME
 
 
Western Reserve Greenway
Ashtabula, OH
43 miles through a mostly rural area. 27 miles in Ashtabula County running to Warren, Ohio. The trail begins a few miles from Lake Erie.

Colonal Crawford Bikeway- Crawford County
 
 
Greenway Corridor Bike Trail (Route 84 & Liberty Street, Painesville 44077
Lake Metroparks 4.8 mile-long paved trail features a width of 10 feet allowing for two lanes of foot and bike traffic. Horses are also allowed to use the trail. Southern section connects with Geauga Park Bike Trail.
 
Lake County Greenway This 4.8-mile paved trail links the municipalities of Painesville, Painesville Township and Concord Township allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of these communities in a safe environment. Travelers will cross two bridges and experience varied levels of terrain ranging from a 660 ft. elevation in Painesville to an elevation of 895 ft. in Concord Township click here to read more and download map.
 
 
 
Richland County B & O Trail
"The Richland County Park District also operates the Richland B&O Trail, a public rail-trail built on the abandoned B&O railroad line. The 18.4-mile trail connects Mansfield, Lexington, Bellville and Butler and is used for bicycling, walking, jogging, in-line skating and nature study."

Sippo Valley Rail-Trail

The Sippo Valley Trail project included paving of an old Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad. Enjoy breathtaking views of eastern Wayne County on the 9.5-mile paved biking trail (2.5 miles in Wayne County). The trail also includes four bridges and an equestrian trail.
 
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Offers a $5 fare for bicyclists. Bike Aboard Passes also available.

Whether you are a confident cyclist or a pint-sized learner with training wheels, you can ride your way to better health. Bike Aboard! allows cyclists to bike the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail in one direction and ride the train in the other. Summer schedule - trains operate Wednesday through Sundays through the end of October.

BICYCLE RENTALS


Bicycle Rentals Now Available At Cleveland Metroparks CanalWay Center

Cleveland Metroparks CanalWay Center has acquired six brand-new bicycles. Each bicycle is available for rental daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The bicycles are Specialized, light trail bikes which can be adjusted to accommodate most adults and older children.

The rentals are $8 per hour and require a $200 hold on a major credit card (if the bicycle is returned before the end of the day, the hold will not appear on the card statement). Discounts are available for rentals longer than 4 hours. Each rental includes a helmet and bike lock.

CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights. For more information, call 216-206-1000.

Description: Join hundreds of cyclists on Saturday, August 11 for one of the fastest growing events in Ohio. The Grand River Valley Wine Region is home to flat to rolling country roads, dozens of picturesque vineyards and nineteen covered bridges. Choose a 13, 25, 39, 65 or 103 mile road ride or give the new 37 mile "lots of gravel" route a try. After your ride, relax, eat and take in the great views at a terrific winery. You will get well marked routes, maps, water & snack stops, support vehicles, a great meal, music and a stunning location.

The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition is proud to present the first annual Cleveland Clinic Akron General Towpath 50

Participants will ride 50 miles on the Towpath Trail, raising a minimum of $50 in pledges, with premiums for cyclists raising $100 and $300 or more.

The bicycle ride includes SAG-support, healthy water stops, and an after party at Lock 3 with food, drinks and live entertainment. The ride begins and ends in Lock 3 in Akron; with a turnaround at Lake Avenue Trailhead.

Proceeds will benefit the continued development, maintenance and activation of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, Towpath Trail and connector trails.
