Tour the Hay-McKinney mansion by "candle light." Guests will explore the house and experience Christmas traditions, Victorian fashions, and Dickensian ghosts and superstitions. Each tour ends in the historic dining room with hot cider and a cash bar.

There will be two tours at 5:30pm and two tours at 6:30pm. All slots/tickets are filled first come first served. Tours will last about 45 minutes.

Ride through the wooded estate of President Rutherford B. Hayes in a horse-drawn sleigh, as Hayes did when he lived here.

South Creek Clydesdales will offer horse-drawn sleigh and trolley rides from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Monday, Dec. 31, at Spiegel Grove, the grounds of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

Cost is $3 per rider ages 3 and older and free for riders 2 and younger.

Tickets can be purchased Dec. 26-31 at the front desk in the museum and library building. Rides are given on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are taken.

You'll visit all the locations around the Lake County History Center where shadows and ghostly figures are said to have been sighted. You'll hear stories of unbelievable historically documented events that have taken place in the past, including those in the infirmary and attic. And, we'll even visit the foreboding cells used in the bygone days of the Lake County Poorhouse.

Ferry boats, water taxis, rescue vessels, commercial watercraft, commercial aircraft, and medical helicopters will be blessed for the 2019 season by clergy representing the island’s three congregations from Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Park Rangers and volunteers will demonstrate firing Historic Firearms and the Park’s carronade throughout the day. Ranger programs will cover the nuances of the 1812 military uniform, the proper handling of black powder and the steps to firing a musket. The carronade, a small short-barrel gun like those used IN THE Battle of Lake Erie, will be fired by the Park’s Gun Crew. The Carronade program will discuss the proper steps in firing the short range gun and its limitations during the Battle of Lake Erie. Historic Firearms demonstrations will take place at 11 am, 3, and 5 pm. Carronade demonstrations will be given at noon, 2, and 4 pm. There will be a 1 pm Junior Ranger program: “Join the Army.”

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial celebrates peace through music by hosting the third annual Put-in-Bay Music Festival. A collaboration between the National Park, the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society and title sponsor Miller Boat Line, the free concert is also supported with a grant from the Ohio Arts Council and a marketing grant from Lake Erie Shores and Islands. Attendees will enjoy playing the Battle of Lake Erie Corn Toss, kids music crafts and yard games, Music Workshops on drumming, and beginner and advanced ukulele, and a Guitar Hero tent. Rangers also will have a living history display. Food, beer and soft drinks will be available on site.

MUSKET & CARRONADE WEEKEND

Location: Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial, 93 Delaware Avenue, Put-in-Bay, OH 43456

Park Rangers and volunteers will demonstrate firing Historic Firearms and the Park’s carronade throughout the day. Ranger programs will cover the nuances of the 1812 military uniform, the proper handling of black powder and the steps to firing a musket. The carronade, a small short-barrel gun like those used IN THE Battle of Lake Erie, will be fired by the Park’s Gun Crew. The Carronade program will discuss the proper steps in firing the short range gun and its limitations during the Battle of Lake Erie. Historic Firearms demonstrations will take place at 11 am, 3, and 5 pm. Carronade demonstrations will be given at noon, 2, and 4 pm. There will be a 1 pm Junior Ranger program: “Join the Army.”

Do ghosts and spirits really haunt the former Lake County Poorhouse? Take our haunting evening tour where you'll be able to experience the Lake County History Center after dark.

Come take a walk through the long dark corridors with nothing but a lanterns to illuminate the way. Escape into the past as our guides provide you with an eerie yet fun-filled adventure! You'll visit all the locations around the Lake County History Center where shadows and ghostly figures are said to have been sighted. You'll go to off-limits areas where many have reported hearing strange sounds and feeling unseen hands touch them.

You'll hear stories of unbelievable historically documented events that have taken place in the past, including those in the infirmary and attic. And, we'll even visit the foreboding cells used in the bygone days of the Lake County Poorhouse.

This event is not suitable for children.
