Handle historic artifacts while our experts discuss the daily experiences of soldiers through the ages–and the emotional and psychological effects that may have lingered long after their duty. Just as these soldiers communicated through notes and letters, guests will also have an opportunity to set quill and pen to paper and draft a note (19th century style) to keep or send! Since 1999, this annual recreation of the amphibious Allied landings upon the beaches of Normandy, France, has thrilled thousands of spectators. The event occurs within the beautifully kept grounds of Conneaut Township Park, Conneaut, Ohio, and assembles over 1,200 re-enactors from across the United States and Canada. Remarkably, the 250 yard long beach and sloping adjacent terrain closely resemble Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.

Description: After a two-year hiatus, we are "Back in the Saddle Again" with the Best "Wurst" Bike Ride to be held August 20, 2022. If you think of Gene Autry or Foreigner, you are correct. Bucyrus (Crawford County) is a gorgeous flat rural ride with low traffic and well paved roads. Plus a few surprises for excitement. We offer family friendly 8/11/13/15 mile family friendly ride, 32.5-mile ride, or 47.5-mile rides. Rest/Snack stops for each ride at our scenic Lowe-Volk Nature Center or preserved Dapper Cabin.

The routes are well marked, and we have digital maps for the more sophisticated. Volunteers and Sag will be along the route for your safety and support.

For two nights each October, the trails surrounding The Wilderness Center are filled with the laughter and excitement of families discovering the nocturnal creatures of the Enchanted Forest. This year at the Enchanted Forest, Slug, Bat, Salamander, Opossum, Spider, and Coyote will display their animal super powers. As guests are escorted along the pumpkin-lit trails by volunteer 'fireflies,' these friendly animals will sing songs, tell jokes and share stories of their impressive animal adaptations. Following this 45-minute walk, families can enjoy refreshments. Children and adults are welcome to wear non-scary costumes. This year, TWC will offer evening times on Friday, October 7 (6:30) and Saturday, October 8 (8:30). Tickets will be available for purchase online to TWC members starting September 1st and to the general public on September 8th.

The Oak Harbor Apple Festival is held each year in downtown Oak Harbor the second full weekend in October.
